Submitted!

Well, I finally submitted my fellowship applications- YAY! They're nothing too impressive, but even a few small ones would be nice! Now it would also be nice to say that I get to lie back and relax, but sadly that is not the case. Now it's time to just worry about work that pertains to the classes I'm taking instead of graduate school things (at least until I start submitting grad school applications).

Homecoming is today! It's a pity we're playing a good team, because it would have been nice to win our Homecoming game. But you never know, it could still happen; it would be major upset 725987 for this football season though! I think UVA is ranked 15, and we have problems beating teams who have only won 2 games, but we'll see...

The other night I was on Centennial until about 10, so I gave Keegan my keys so he could watch House while I was gone. When I got back, with a headache and at least 4 more hours of work to do, there was chai tea mix, a card, and beautiful lilies waiting for me on my desk :-D Boyfriends are pretty good sometimes.

Speaking of Centennial, I have to go feed the cells for our TE project.

Super Schedules

So tonight I essentially planned out my entire life until April 22. Our senior design team has to turn in our project schedule on Tuesday, so we spent two hours planning out when we wanted to turn in huge reports that are due by November 20, February 12, March 25, and April 22. HOW exactly are we supposed to predict the future to know what we will be doing on March 12? But anyway, it's finished now, so that's that.

Speaking of schedules, I also registered for my last (undergraduate) semester. An amazing 10 hours (one of which is a PE class) starting each day at 11:45. Oooh man. Here's what's on the agenda for Spring 2008:
BME senior design + lab, another TE class with the words "mechanics" and "tissues" in the title, Spanish conversation and reading, and then to wrap up the glorious semester: fitness walking.

Also, being the obsessive-compulsive person that I am, I know that my senior design and TE classes have no finals and PE finals are done during class time. So yes folks, I have one exam and it's on April 29. I'll be finished in APRIL. And since the exam is for a Spanish conversation class, I'll most likely go chat with my professor for 20 minutes. Aaahh, this must be what it feels like to be a humanities major.

On another note, Keegan and I decided to go to the Melting Pot for dessert to celebrate our anniversary; I've never been there, but I've heard good things about it :o)

First "Official" Post

Well, it's been quite some time since I've had a blog... about two years in fact. It's crazy how the time flies! Tomorrow I'm actually registering for my last semester of undergraduate classes :-0

If you really want a list of graduate schools that I'm applying to, here you go:

Johns Hopkins (1)
Georgia Tech (2)
Duke (tied for 5)
University of Pennsylvania (tied for 6)
NCSU/UNC (34)

I'm applying to their BME Ph.D. programs, so these programs should keep me busy for the next 4-5 years. I also got an email from someone at Carnegie Mellon (24) urging me to apply for their BME grad program, so that's a tentative school to add to my list. The numbers in the parenthesis are the Newsweek 2007 rankings of the graduate BME programs at those schools; I'm pretty impressed that NCSU is already ranked at 34, considering our program is only ~4 years old (and actually UNC isn't ranked, but the BME graduate program between NCSU and UNC is joint, so they're good by association :-P)

Other exciting plans for my senior year, for people I haven't been keeping in touch with (sorry!), include going to Ecuador for Spring Break 2008! I'm part of an Alternative Spring Break trip and we're going to be doing a Habitat for Humanity project. I'm so excited, especially considering I haven't really traveled to too many exotic places (I don't think Canada exactly counts as "exotic"). There's also a tentative plan to go to Europe over the summer- I've got to enjoy my one free summer before going for that Ph.D.!

In other news, Keegan and I are going to celebrate our 1.5 year anniversary soon! We're trying to figure out where we'd like to go out to eat, so if you've got any good recommendations, let me know! Mmmm...

Well, I suppose that's about all for now... besides, House starts soon, so I should get some more work finished before then!

Well, I couldn't remember my old one...

I used to have one of these blogs, but I don't remember the address or the password or anything like that, so I guess it's time to give up and start a new one.
